Solar Rooftop Calculator for Delhi: See How Much Solar Fits Your Roof
Find your home on the map. We’ll estimate how much rooftop solar may fit, how many panels your roof can support, and what size could make sense for your electricity use, including current Central + Delhi subsidy estimates.

Don’t know your roof area? That’s the point. Show us the roof.
RoofCheck is warming up. The map service is not connected yet on this site. If you are the site owner, finish the key setup in SETUP-ROOFCHECK.txt.
Is this your roof?
Zoom in and tap the building you want to check. RoofCheck will look for available rooftop solar data for that location.
Scanning rooftop solar potential…
We couldn’t reliably detect this roof automatically.
No problem. Tap around the usable terrace or roof boundary and we’ll estimate the area manually. You can adjust how much of the roof is clear of tanks, stairs, parapets and other obstacles.
Your RoofCheck
Automatic Google roof modelPlanning estimate for this location. Final capacity must be confirmed by a site survey.
Includes solar data from Google • Figures last checked 23 Aug 2026
Use a system size up to 3 kW to reach the current maximum combined capital-subsidy level for eligible Delhi residential households, subject to scheme rules and approval.
What do you normally use in a month?
You can find “units consumed” on your electricity bill. A 12-month average gives the best sizing estimate.
Your Solar Suvidha planning estimate
Every figure is a planning range, not a quotation. Subsidy subject to eligibility, application process, approved vendor and equipment rules, and government approval.
Want this roof checked by a real installer?
RoofCheck is a planning tool. A site visit still needs to confirm shade, roof condition, structure, electrical details, net-metering feasibility and the final panel layout. Solar Suvidha can connect you with one verified installer for this exact roof.
How the Solar Suvidha rooftop calculator works
Most solar calculators ask you to enter your roof area before they can estimate system size. RoofCheck starts with the property instead. Search for your Delhi home, select the roof, and the tool first looks for available building-level solar information. Where automatic roof data is not available, you can trace the usable terrace directly on the map. We then combine the roof estimate with your electricity consumption and current Delhi and Central solar-support rules to create a planning estimate.
How much roof area does solar need in Delhi?
The Delhi Solar Portal currently uses a planning rule of roughly 10 square metres, or about 100 square feet, per 1 kW of rooftop solar. Real roofs are not empty rectangles: water tanks, stair rooms, parapets, shade, walkways, structure height and the dimensions of the selected panels change the final layout. That is why RoofCheck treats area-per-kW as a fallback planning rule rather than a final engineering design.
How much subsidy can a Delhi home get?
For eligible residential households, the current Central PM Surya Ghar support is Rs 30,000 per kW up to 2 kW plus Rs 18,000 for the additional capacity up to 3 kW, with the Central subsidy capped at Rs 78,000 for larger systems. Delhi’s amended state policy currently provides Rs 10,000 per kW up to 3 kW, capped at Rs 30,000. An eligible 3 kW or larger residential system can therefore reach up to Rs 1.08 lakh in combined capital subsidy, subject to scheme conditions, portal process and approval. The full application walkthrough is in our PM Surya Ghar application guide.
Is the biggest system always the best system?
No. Roof capacity tells you what may physically fit; your recommended system should also consider annual electricity use, sunlight, sanctioned load, net-metering rules, budget and how much energy you expect to consume in the future. RoofCheck therefore shows “maximum roof potential” separately from “recommended for your usage.” For the money side, see the current solar panel price in Delhi breakdown.
Why this is still an estimate
Satellite imagery and rooftop models cannot replace a physical survey. Final design can change because of recent construction, hidden shade, structural capacity, access requirements, water tanks, wiring, inverter location, product dimensions, fire and electrical safety rules and DISCOM feasibility. Use RoofCheck to make a better first decision, then verify the plan before buying.
Rooftop calculator questions, answered
How many solar panels can fit on my roof?
RoofCheck estimates panel fit from available building-level solar data. If automatic data is unavailable, you can trace your roof and get a planning estimate. Final panel count depends on panel dimensions, obstacles, setbacks, structure and shade.
How much roof area is required for a 3 kW solar system?
Delhi’s official rooftop calculator uses roughly 100 sq ft per kW as a planning rule, so 3 kW is approximately 300 sq ft of suitable roof area. The actual layout may need more or less space depending on the panel and structure.
How much roof area is required for 5 kW solar?
Using the same planning rule, about 500 sq ft is a useful starting estimate. RoofCheck is designed to test the actual property rather than relying only on that rule of thumb.
What is the maximum solar subsidy in Delhi?
Current public Delhi sources show up to Rs 78,000 in Central PM Surya Ghar subsidy plus up to Rs 30,000 Delhi state capital subsidy for eligible residential systems, for a combined potential of up to Rs 1.08 lakh.
Does Solar Suvidha guarantee the subsidy?
No. RoofCheck estimates the amount from current published rules. Actual eligibility and payment depend on the scheme, consumer category, application process, approved equipment and vendor requirements, commissioning and government or DISCOM approval.
Does the tool give an exact solar quotation?
No. It gives a planning cost range. Final price depends on panel and inverter brand, mounting structure, roof height, electrical work, DISCOM and net-metering charges, warranties and the installer’s scope.
What if my roof is not detected?
You can trace the usable roof manually on the map. RoofCheck will then calculate area and use a conservative area-based capacity estimate.
Do I have to give my phone number?
Not to see the initial roof estimate. Contact details are requested only if you choose to get the roof verified by one installer or request a detailed proposal.
Is this only for Delhi?
The launch version is optimized for Delhi because the economics and state subsidy logic are Delhi-specific. The map technology can expand later, but Delhi incentives do not apply outside Delhi.
Will a 3 kW system make my electricity bill zero?
Not automatically. Your bill depends on consumption, solar generation, timing, net metering, tariff and subsidy rules, fixed charges and system performance. RoofCheck shows generation and savings as estimates, not a guaranteed zero bill.
Planning estimate only. Not a structural, electrical or site-survey approval. Solar imagery and roof data may be incomplete or out of date. Final design, generation, cost, savings, subsidy and net-metering outcomes can vary.
